The process of producing animation will follow a usual path from initial briefing to final delivery. Throughout the process you will be sent updated images and sequences for review so changes can be made if needed.
I will listen carefully to your requirements and study any relevant reference material you have. This can be drawings, CAD files, images, sales material or anything else you think is applicable to the project, the more reference material the better.
I will produce a storyboard/script which will give you the best idea of what to expect in the finished animation. You can review this and see shot by shot how the animations will work, this gives you time to make any major changes or introduce any other aspects I may have missed. I can then amend if necessary until you are completely happy with the result. You can see some examples of the storyboards I produce here.
For modelling the products needed for the project I can use plans, photos, leaflets or the product itself but a CAD file will ensure technical accuracy and scale. A CAD model will still need work to optimise it for use, this will include re-working parts with low detail, removing parts with extreme amounts of detail that will not be seen, surfacing materials and generally adding more realism. If the project needs environmental assets like people, vehicles, buildings, vegetation etc, I will use the large library of items I have built over the years. These assets can be amended if needed to add company logos and colours to give them your corporate look.
When all the animations are finished they will be rendered out as low resolution sequences and edited together with music and voice-over as required. The draft copy will be encoded with time code and sent to you for review. Hi resolution stills will also be sent to you for a more detailed view of the key moments. Final changes and tweaks can be made at this stage before the high quality renders are done.
When everybody is happy with the draft version of the project the final image sequences are rendered out. This could take several days depending on the duration and complexity of the scenes. The finished video is then encoded and sent to you for download.
